Huawei unveils next gen power solution at World Energy Congress
Huawei just dropped some major news at the 26th World Energy Congress in Rotterdam. They’re unveiling their super cool Intelligent Distribution Solution (IDS) to tackle all the big problems in the electric power game.
Electric power companies are dealing with mad issues like high line loss, unreliable service, and dealing with all this new energy stuff. But guess what? Huawei’s got their back with the IDS.
This IDS thing is all about using dope tech to make power distribution way better. It’s like levelling up the power grid with data, connectivity, and automation. They’re calling it the ‘last mile’ because it’s all about getting the power straight to your crib, your office, or wherever you need it.
David Sun, who’s the Vice President of Huawei and the big cheese at Huawei’s Electric Power Digitalization BU, says the IDS is next-level. It’s not just about making power distribution rooms digital; it’s about making the whole system smart and open.
The IDS uses this sick architecture called ‘cloud-pipe-edge-pipe-device’. It’s got everything: a private cloud, wired and wireless network solutions, edge computing units, and high-speed communication tech. This setup lets power companies see what’s going on in real-time so they can fix stuff before the lights go out.
And get this: the IDS isn’t just some theory, it’s been tested for real. They’ve already used it in China, in a place called Shaanxi province, with the State Grid Shaanxi Electric Power. It’s been a game-changer, managing over 1,00,000 distribution transformer districts like a boss, reducing outages, and keeping the power flowing. Plus, they’ve hooked up over 50,000 solar-powered homes and 1,000 big solar sites without a hitch.
Zhang Genzhou, who’s the CIO of State Grid Shaanxi, says the IDS is lit. It’s making their job easier, keeping the lights on, and making customers happy.
