Bharat Pavilion lit at the 77th Cannes Film Fest

It’s raining magic for Bharat at the 77th Cannes Film Festival. The Bharat Pavilion just got inaugurated today at the 77th Cannes Film Festival in France, and it’s lit.

Every year, Bharat rocks the show at the Cannes Film Festival, and this year ain’t no different. Hosted by the Information and Broadcasting Ministry, Government of India, with the National Film Development Corporation and FICCI leading the charge, Bharat is all about showcasing its dope cinematic heritage and making friends with the global film gang.

The scene was epic with big shots from the film world, like Tholoana Rose Ncheke, Chairperson, National Film and Video Foundation, South Africa, Christian Jeune, Director of Films Department, Deputy General Delegate, Cannes Film Festival, and the amazing filmmaker Richie Mehta, all in the mix.

Sanjay Jaju was stoked, “This year, we got more Indian projects in the Cannes official selection, one each in the competition and in uncertain regard. And let me tell you, both these projects got major love from the government. We hooked them up with incentives and official core productions.”

“The Bharat Pavilion is gonna be the spot for networking, collaboration, and shouting out Indian Cinema to the world. We wanna team up more with our international film fam, so Indian Cinema gets the love and attention it deserves worldwide. Let’s make Indian cinema the real deal globally.” added the Secretary.

H.E. Jawed Ashraf was dropping truth bombs, “India is getting all eyes on it worldwide, not just for politics and money, but also for its deep thoughts and ideas. Our role in this new world order is huge, and we gotta shine bright, especially in cinema.”

Richie Mehta was all about it, “For me, this is huge. I owe my career to film festivals. They put me on the map. And as a Canadian Indian, I wanna spread the amazing stories and culture of India to the world. It’s an honour to be here.”

Loads of Indian states like Jammu & Kashmir, Karnataka, Goa, and Maharashtra are here at Cannes, showing off their amazing locales to the international film crews. Plus, three films shot in India, thanks to India’s Film Facilitation Office (FFO), made it to the fest.

And guess what? J&K is at Cannes for the first time ever. They’re showing off their breathtaking locales and new film incentive policies. The response has been off the hook.
