So, check it: Union Sports Minister Anurag Singh Thakur was like, “Let’s make waves, fam” and boom. The championships are now a thing. With 7 dope BIMSTEC countries coming together, we’re talking about some serious vibes in the Bay of Bengal area.

Anurag Singh Thakur was all about that friendship and unity vibe, saying this event will not only deepen bonds between countries but also bring athletes closer together. It’s all about that PM Modi vision, y’all.

Prime Minister Modi dropped the bomb on this back in 2018, during the 4th BIMSTEC Summit, and now, here we are. Originally set for 2021, but you know how it is with pandemics and stuff, so they pushed it to 2024.

The opening ceremony was off the hook! Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports Nepal Dig Bahadur Limbu and Indra Mani Pandey were in the house, along with other VIPs from BIMSTEC countries and India.

And peep this: It’s all going down at Delhi’s Dr Syama Prasad Mookerjee Swimming Pool Complex from Feb 6th to Feb 9th, 2024. We’re talking swimming, water polo, and diving, baby.

We got medals flying left and right, with 39 up for grabs across the events. Plus, 9 trophies are on the line! We’re expecting over 500 people to show up, including 268 athletes from the BIMSTEC squad.

For those who don’t know, BIMSTEC is where it’s at. It’s all about linking South and South-East Asian countries, with a killer lineup including Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Myanmar, and Thailand.
